Recently, the administrative team of KL has decided to create a new website that encourages the discussion intelligent and debatable topics from all over the spectrum of fields. The current name for this website is YoungTenacity.com. However, we would like input from all of KL's members, so please vote for whichever name you would prefer the new site to be.

If you feel that YoungTenacity.com is the best option out there, then choose the first option.

If you feel that one of the above options is better, choose that and explain, in a post below, why you like it better.

If you have any suggestions for site names, post them in this topic and we will add them to the poll.

Thank you,
KL Staff

I *really* don't like YouthAcademia.com - It would seem like a very school-oriented site - which KL is *not* striving for.

That's why AthenaLight is the best name for the new forum. "Athena", obviously, shows wisdom/knowledge and light is often interpreted to mean knowledge and enlightenment as well. The name flows too and sounds sleek...at least much sleeker than YoungTenacity.

Are you guys really that adamant on the name? I've already purchased YoungTenacity.com, and have a designer lined up.

Yes. The thing is, YouthTenacity seems like a kind of place where teeny-angst people and Che-Guevera supporters would gather. Tenacity implies resilience and holding on against all odds...and that makes it seem like we have some sort of radical social agenda. Yes, tenacity also means cohesiveness, but that's not one of the main definitions that people would know.

And it doesn't flow, either.

well, with athenalight, it sounds unique

while with youthtenacity, it sounds like its a site for angry, raviging teens

but i still say we can do better

AthenaLight's name seems kinda misleading...I'd think that it's about Athena - or something religious/paganist.

I want to keep this site sectarian, thankyouverymuch. xD

YouthTenacity or YoungTenacity? I'm leaning back towards YouthTenacity.

You might associate Tenacity with Tenacious D...perhaps that's why you're thinking of the angsty thing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenacious
"Tenacious root word tenac from greek meaning strong/determined:"

Youth Determination
Young Determination

Both great connotations for our new website.

How many people in the world follow the Old Greek Gods now? Its a stretch to say that people will immediately associate the name with some religious fanatic organization or something. Athena/Athens is commonly used as a symbol of wisdom and knowledge.

I'm trying to see it from the point of a guy who's just heard about the site and is pondering on the name.

But look at the definitions. Only 1 out of 4 of them means the same thing you are trying to convey, and its near the bottom of the definition list! Nobody thinks of community or cohesiveness when they think of tenacity.

That's what I was thinking too. I imagine the site with old Greek architecture with that.

But, I really can't decide. Since normally I can't stand "Point Dexter" kind of conversations, none of the names sound too interesting to me.

But don't ask me either, I'm too damned uncreative to think of one.

Even if you read it as "Youth Stubbornness", it would seem like a satirical name about the nature of Youth.

Anyways, we can ban all of the silly/stupid we don't like, if your problem is that we don't want annoying members on the board.

Also, as I said, it's complex enough that most people who can't spell simple words won't spell Tenacity correctly.

@the comment about greek gods: If Stormfront can exist, then I think a website that makes people see the "light" about the Athenian gods would exist.

Actually, doing a quick search: http://www.athena.org/ is a site about converting to worship Athena. download_0.gif

How about "SentientYouth"?
Has a nice activism overtone to it, without sounding too extremist.
However, it does sound a bit... arrogant?

If we want to sound arrogant, we could even use the slogan, "Youth: Some of us actually do have brains." tongue.gif

Otherwise, I'd go with the tenacity one.
