Well, in the last vote, it's pretty much decided that we'll use PC (at least for our primary platform).

Now, we'll have to decide what game to play. There are three pieces of criteria: What Genre of a game we'd like to play, How good your computer is, and how much you are willing to spend on a game.

If I left off your genre, it's for a good reason.

http://gameadvisor.futuremark.com/gameadvi...e/my_system.jsp
If you need help figuring out how good your computer is, please go to here and paste the "My System Specifications" page here so we can take a look at it.

Please vote above.

any game thats either free or i already have (i already have AOE III but then again i cant run it on my beautiful 7 year old laptop with it's 192mb of ram) yeah its a bad computer for gaming...
plus time wise i don't know how much i'd participate but... um how do these work is it like i earned this many points in said game so they go towards the team also? cause in that case i'd do it but if there's a required time commitment than no...
myscrnnm
You can't NOT like a shooter, it's just uncalled for. Also, FPS is very specific. You are excluding such game as third-person shooters.

It would basically be a group of people who would play together. I guess we'd schedule times that we'd play together, but I don't think you would be required to participate.

lol, a lot of people are being gay here. You can't NOT like a shooter, it's just uncalled for. Also, FPS is very specific. You are excluding such game as third-person shooters.

In this case, there aren't many TPSes in the PC platform which are popular. I put up only the most popular categories found through Wikipedia, and Xfire's online stats. If you want a TPS, consider it a FPS for now.

Now you know why the PC sucks for playing games. rolleyes.gif
Hollow
If it's free, I'll get it. If it's cheap, I might get it. If it's greater than fifty, I'm not likely to get it (P2P being in this category)

I've got UT2K4 if anyone wants to kick my [edited] at that.
Timebandit
I used all my money for FTB2. Man i have to get a job. I'll try and scrounge out money for BF2 or something.
chuck
any pc shooter is great. halo pc, America's Army, and battlefield 2 are all good.
Timebandit
I like BF2 becasue you can give real troops on the ground air support. and that is pretty cool. It has land, sea, and air.
krt
I doubt I'd play, but if it is battlefield 2, I might join in here and there (it is one of the few games I have played enough to be "good" at)
clunky
Hmm, now that I'm thinking about it, I might join a bit and pwn all you n00bs.

I will rank the following games:
  • Battlefield 1942:
    • Gameplay/Interface: 7 a bit jerky and screwed up, you know a bit what i mean if youve played a newer game then gone back to it.
    • Fun (i.e. intensinty in my mind): 8 Sometimes a bit dull (swimming to the carrier from your downed plane)
    • Teamplay: 10 It's really fun over TS when youre all coordinating a succesful steal of the enemy flag
    • Price: $5-15 now (its super cheap its like 5 years old)
  • Call of Duty (1)
    • Gameplay/Interface: 10 Very Smooth, clean, fast, runs well
    • Fun: 10 This game is basically a large street battle (for the most part) running around pwning n00bs biggrin.gif with your automatic weapons
    • Teamplay 7: Kind of a loner FTW game
  • Americas Army (with my very limited experience)G
    • Gameplay/Interface: 6: Takes forever to do a PB update every time I join a server)
    • Fun 1: "You have died. Respawn in 20:51" AAARRgggggghhhh...
    • Teamplay: 9 I suppose it is rather goof, if you could stay alive
So basically I play Call of Duty, which I think is a superior game in the PC FPS market. I also play the COROP Guild Wars. I dont know, but if anyone wants to buy CoD, its rather cheap (froogle).

So... I got this crazy idea, and I have no idea if it would work.
I'd like it too.. if it means no paying..

So, I bet there is a bunch of software we'd regularly download that would give you free commissions per download.

Examples are
Google Pack ($2.00 each download, apparently)

Ok, so all I can find is google. Google pays you a buck to download firefox (http://www.informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=173601284).

So, if we all downloaded firefox and google pack on every single one of our computers and friends computers, etc... we might have a bit of money to give games to everybody!

That means. Go to a friends house. Ask them if you can use their computer. Download Google Pack w/o telling them. Eventually we'll have enough moneyto get everybody at least Halo, if Lappy has any friends at ICS wih a parent working in Microsoft ($10 copies).

So that means, 10 times top however many users Lappy could afford doing this.

Actually, stupid idea. I'm sure Lappy would want to keep the money himself.
Hey, how much do you make by advertising anyways?

Good idea, but it's not per download, it's per install. Also, if I give "incentives" for people to do things like that, then, I'd be liable to get kicked out of the Google AdSense program, which is not in my interests. Sorry.

The PC is great for playing games. FPS and RTS, especially.

1. serebii needs to shorten his avatar

2. it looks like fps wins with 11 votes

3. we need to decide on a game to use.

lappy512
Yes, I'd prefer FPS over RTS because it's much easier to jump into a FPS game for 10 minutes, than a RTS game of an hour or so.

I'll post a poll about a game in a day or two.
krt
I'd also prefer FPS for the same reason (I remember an Age of Empires game that lasted nearly 3 hours, not something I want to do often, if ever!), and with work on broadband availability here at its last stage here, I am considering being a part of this if it starts
I am guessing there will be another poll soon for the game and not just the category?
myncknm
How about RTT?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real-time_tactics

It should be faster than RTS, and involves more strategy/tactics too.
Zombieman3421
RTS's are good, but i like shooters more because there is more action in it

Ah yes, Halo 2 for Windows Vista, as Bungie calls it. However, by now, Halo 2 graphics have become outdated.
