Any posting of illegal material (including Limewire) will result in us deleting the link and immediately banning the person who posts it. Don't do it.
Hollow
P2P programs aren't illegal, it's what you do with them. That's already been established by US law.

Just try me KC.

If the poster is going to be endorsing illegal purposes for them, as is above, then it will be in our best interests to prevent that.

QUOTE

That doesn't matter. Like I said, since the poster is outright saying that this is for an illegal purpose, its better to stay safe than sorry.

*yawn*

Not like a five second Google search is much harder anyways.

I stick with what I've said above. There are quite a few unknowns that put their music up on Limewire to get people tuned in to them. Try checking those people out sometime instead.

I'm just trying to talk about it and not get banned. (you're funeral fury)

Clarification: We delete stuff that could get KL in trouble, like guides on how to get illegal electronic material. However, this topic is about the legality of programs such as Limewire, and alternative legal content that is shared on programs (actually, Limewire is only a client), of Gnutella/Bittorrent/etc. People saying that they use things like Limewire won't get us in trouble, just as RaptorJesus's talks of possibly using illegit substances won't get us into trouble, either.

You mean you will delete the link and ban the person. And then I/Lappy/any mod who knows what they're doing will unban the person and let them put the link back. And stop being hypocritical about P2P.
krt
Uh... djbob, if you look a tad more closely, KC did mention illegal material, and clarified:
QUOTE

His going by the rules and not being any more hypocritical than any other mod here. I would understand if you said that in response to his first comment as that was not clear but not after he explains - and that is after the posting of a link.

It's "he's", and he is being hypocritical because he has pirated music.

QUOTE

He states in his second comment that it is "better safe than sorry"... he still wants the topic closed, or at least some kind of action taken. And a link to Limewire is still fine... I don't understand how that is relevant.

Oh come on, djbob, resorting to pointing out grammar mistakes? tongue.gif Its not as if it was something that would obstruct an intelligent discussion from taking place...

And nowhere in my post did I mention using Limewire for personal illegal purposes. I simply stated that it would be bad to say "Hey, look, guys, you can download illegal stuff off this!" and post a link on Krazyletter.

Well, I would like Native Pride not to make a point to everyone that it is used for illegal purposes. Because I do know that it can be used legally.
krt
There you go djbob, maybe it was better to be "safe than sorry" as KC said, something like what bobalini said just then was inevitably going to happen!

zomgz! Lappy512 has already said that you can say you use things for illegal purposes. Just don't post guides and such.

Too much grammar mistakes can, in fact, "obstruct" an intelligent discussion.

Why not? It is a fact. Limewire can, and for the most part is, used for downloading pirated material.

Then, if it's freedom of speech, couldn't I post a guide here, or warez, if I had any?

You could, if you can accept the repercussions that come with it. All of us are free, just some of the consequences that come from actions are less desirable than others.

As long as it doesn't get KL into trouble. Posting warez here would probably get KL into trouble, so the answer to that would be no. However, merely discussing the subject of warez is completely permissable.

Do you really believe that freedom of speech is limitless? To give an obvious example, the freedom here is restricted by forum rules set by lappy.

Just because your conversation does not relate to the topic does not mean you shouldn't discuss it. Start a new thread if you feel you are taking the current one too much off-topic wink.gif
QUOTE

I was referring to Lappy, not myself. And why shut up and when there is a perfect opportunity to make a good-natured joke? That sentence really makes no sense... huh.gif

"Simple" mistakes like that can create confusion, like the last sentence of your's I quoted, and like the "if talk you this like" in this quote laugh.gif
QUOTE

It's not limitless, but it certainly should have a limit further than the one KC established.

QUOTE
Point?
In that quote, I was stating that I have no objection to bobalini discussing warez, its legality, its morality, its ethicality, or anything of that such.

QUOTE
As long as it doesn't get KL into trouble. Posting warez here would probably get KL into trouble, so the answer to that would be no. However, merely discussing the subject of warez is completely permissable.
In that quote, I was merely reinforcing my previous comment: I have no objection to any such discussion. However, actually engaging in it through KL is not allowed. There really isn't any contradiction between these two quotes.

QUOTE
Do I need to say anything else? Note that there is a difference b/w discussing the subject "warez" and mentioning what you illegally download.
I still find no objection to anybody mentioning what they illegally download. It in no way incriminates KL and is a fine subject for discussion. Stuff like this could be very relevant to a discussion on the morality of illegal downloading.

QUOTE
Nit-picking on words is just as absurd as pointing out homonyms.
Mayhaps laugh.gif
Hollow
Well, either you can take note of djbob's nitpicking and reform their grammar and spelling or you can ignore it and make the same mistake in the future, maybe when it really counts. It's a choice, really.
krt
The problem is that doesn't apply to me, if I ignore him, nothing will happen, as my mistakes are almost always typos or a simple "his" or "he's" mixup for example where I know why it is a mistake but it just happens as a mistake. And they rarely happen wink.gif
Hollow
Then you shouldn't worry about djbob fiixing your mistakes since they are so "rare". The less mistakes you make, the less djbob corrects you. Simple as that.

Yeah, just not every hour of the day.

-discussion.krazyletter.com
Romsource is a ROM/ISO site which is in no way legal. Nothing there has the slightest appearance of trying to establish this.

Therefore, if anyone is to face consequences for the posting of illegal materials, Lappy should face the same fine.

That being said...
excepted is not a word.
It is colloquial English, and is not to be trusted. The linked page shows dictionary.com, which is an uncool dictionary.
