Society
Being expected to look your best,
Being expected to be like the rest,
Being afraid of being uncool,
Being afraid of looking like a fool.
It's lie after lie from the society.
It's not all what it's cracked up to be.
So go ahead and take the dive;
Let them know you're still alive.
Go ahead and play their game;
Let them know you're one they cannot tame.
Don't believe in the society.
Don't let them erase your personality.
Don't let them steal your past,
It's all you have, so make it last.

Mmf. You see so many messages about peer pressure these days. But it's a bit different when it comes from someone who's actually in the influence of high school peer pressure.
And it goes deeper than that, doesn't it? Something about culture.
Thanks! I have other poems I may post some time.
