SONY FAILURE TIMELINE

First, we start with Sony itself. Yes, I was going to only make a timeline of the PS3 news, but how can you ignore this arrogance from late 2005?

Nov. 10th, 2005 - Sony is caught hiding a rootkit inside music CD's that place a virus on users computer. Sony's Tom Hesse defends the decision by stating that people don't know what it is, so they shouldn't care

Now that we know Sony cares about us, lets move on to the PS3...

Feb. 27th, 2006 - Sony misses it's Spring launch date
May 8th, 2006 - Sony holds it's E3 conference announcing the pricing of the PS3 at $600/$500
May 8th, 2006 - New PS3 controller will have six degrees of motion, but no rumble feature. Sony's Phil Harrison states that rumble was last gen and no longer needed.
May 31st, 2006 - Sony's Phil Harrison denies copying the Wiimote and states that the PS3 will replace the PC
Sept 6th, 2006 - PS3 is delayed in Europe until March 2007
Sept 6th, 2006 - PS3 launch shipment is cut from 2 million to 400,000 in the US (100,000 to Japan)
Sept 8th, 2006 - Sony's President admits that the company's hardware is in a current state of decline
Sept 26th, 2006 - PS3 first-party titles announced to be the same price as third party titles, at $59.99
Sept 26th, 2006 - Square Enix will not exclusively support Sony's PS3 as much as they did with the PS2.
Sept 29th, 2006 - Sony's President Ken Kutaragi states that his company does not care about the Xbox 360 and Wii competition.

Do you just hate game companies?

You hate Nintendo, you hate Sony... I don't get it.

Or are you just a microsoft fanatic?
Joe
As I said, I don't hate Nintendo. I had a N64, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy SP, and a Gamecube. I just think they're losing the awesomeness I saw in them before.

I don't hate Sony, I just hate Myscrnnm's fanaticism for them and the cost for the PS3 (something more affordable would be nice).

And I use a mac. wink.gif

I've already said, this is true, Sony patented the idea for the SIXAXIS like eight years ago.

Link to USPTO page.

I don't know this "President" is, but Sony's hardware is not in a state of decline.

Lmao, 4chan as a source...

Kutaragi was replaced by Hirai, all is good.
Joe
4chan is my cure for boredom. :P

Myscrnnm, you'll like this: http://img.4chan.org/b/res/18298626.html

Yeah, Kaz Hirai is a great man. He's a much more skilled speaker than the idiot representatives that Nintendo and Microsoft send to interviews

Microsoft is not know for speakers but Nintendo has Reggie.
Ceritheya
Kaz?
I don't get that. Is that his full name, or just an abbreviation? Because Kaz is/has:
a. not possible in the Japanese language.
b. if an abbreviation, a bad one.
c. either Kaza, Kazi, Kazu, Kaze, or Kazo at least to be languically(not a word) correct.

It's short for Kazuo. Like, Ka zu o.
Ceritheya
Ok... Hirai Kazuo... Or is Kazuo his family name?
myscrnnm

Hirai is his last name. But since we are speaking of a Japanese in America, we are doing it the American way for consistency.
Ceritheya
I hate the American way.

I hate it when any person of any culture insults any other culture. In any subtle way...

Hirai Kazuo...

Hirai Kazuo...

He calls himself Kaz though. And besides, Hirai Kaz just doesn't sound right, cuz "Kaz" is like a first name.
Ceritheya
Then say it Hirai Kazuo...
I bet he's fluent in English then.
chuck
Kaz is a cool name. i'm jealous.
Ceritheya
I'm stuck with a pretty lame name.

Many Japanese names sound cool.
Haru. Spring.
Sounds cooler than Spring.
Yuki- sounds ocoler than Snow.
Neko- Sounds cooler than Cat.
I can go on forever...

Lol.
I disagree.
Desolation is so beautiful. It just rolls off your tongue. Same as Roku, though it only means 6.

Shitto also sounds better than shit.

Kind of like what the man said about French, "It's like wiping your ass with silk.".

But yeah, because of the syllable rule.

There was a much longer list on the Gamespot forums, including loss of exclusives (EDIT: more specifically exclusives that have gone multi-plat)...but I'm not gonna bother... mellow.gif

Actually, the PlayStation family has gained many exclusives. For instance, Final Fantasy is technically exclusive because all the canonical games debut on the PlayStation systems. Metal Gear has also since become an exclusive since the PlayStation (again, all games debut on the PlayStation systems). Gran Turismo is also completely exclusive, and it's the greatest driving simulator ever made, its four games alone nearly outselling Legend of Zelda's twelve games.

I have a correction, I believe it was the "PS3 Failure Timeline" or something...sorry...

In America, there are many games that both the PS series and the Nintendo series have.

Yeah, except that they are usually not good games, or are better in the PlayStation family. e.g. Resident Evil 4.

Ninja Gaiden

Itagaki was an idiot for going to the Xbox family with Dead or Alive. He claims that he will always use the most powerful console for each generation. This proved to be a lie when he chose to use the Xbox. What an ass.
Ceritheya
Gamecubes are the cheapest consoles. I don't know about the PS, but I'll assume they're the same price.

So, since the Cube and Station are the cheapest, they would be the most affordable, meaning more people would buy them. So yeah.

The PlayStation was discontinued a few months ago. However, the PlayStation 2 can now be purchased for the low low price of $129, and it still outsells all the other consoles. Also, the low price does not guarantee good sales. For instance, tha GayCube had the lowest price of the sixth-generation, but still lost to even the Xbox.
Ceritheya
True there are more Microsoft Fanboys than Nintendo fanboys.
