A long time ago, at GDC, Sony Computer Entertainment announced the new PlayStation Network service known as Home. Soon, it will be entering the closed beta phase and then entering live service in October of 2007. So far, we've seen shit like the Miis from the Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft has its offering of chatting via Xbox Live.

However, Home will be superior to both of these services combined in several respects. With neither Xbox Live nor the Miis can you have a living space nor possessions. Inside PlayStation Home, not only is their a lobby, but individual users can have their own apartments complete with furniture and objects, and even pets.

While people using Miis can only walk around, Home allows users to create life-like avatars that can either use text input or a microphone to communicate with other users.

There is also a lot of integration in Home. Users will be able to gain trophies from playing games and then display the trophies in their apartments. From the trailer, a large amount of furniture is also available for use.

Xbox fanboys have long cited the "fact" that Xbox Live is superior in its features to PlayStation Network. However, with the advent of downloading games and demos in PlayStation Network, and now the introduction of Home, Xbox users will be hardpressed to justify the pricetag of Xbox Live Gold when PSN has a much larger and expansive offering at a lower cost (microtransactions taken into account).

Pretty cool, something I'd expect from a good online service.

The Sims+Ventrillo?
I never use my PS3, I gave it to my sister and told her to play "Need for Speed:Carbon" and "Soul Caliber II" until she got bored.

This is way beyond anything that the Sims and/or Ventrillo could offer, even if they were combined. This is a fully integrated network allowing anyone with a PlayStation 3 system to communicate and socialize with each other.

Ventrillo lets anyone with a computer communicate and socialize with each other.
Then you add in the Sims so that PS3 users can have virtual buttsex. Thanks to its high-end graphics, the PS3 can display ultra-realistic semen.

That's why Home is so radically different from anything seen before. I mean, with Grand Theft Auo: San Andreas, what incentive is there for the hot coffee patch? The graphics were shit. But with PlayStation Home, the Reality Synthesizer can realistically render people.
