Okay, I'm more pro PS3 than 360. I'm having a difficult time diciding on what to get on other forums without ZOMG UR SUCK A FAGOT UR AN IDIOT GET A WIi OUR 360 ZOMG DUCHABAGE. I'm looking forward to Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5, MGS4 and other exclusive titles. The only reason I'd get a 360 is for Ace Combat 6 (Played the demo, probably the best Ace Combat level I've ever played in my life) and playing with friends in other games, and also playing with my clan in AC6. But I heard it breaks down a lot. That's the only reason holding me back, that and the $670 Live Package for the 360 (Which I could get bassicly the same thing with a PS3, besides rip-off Forza for $499) And the only reasons holding me back from the PS3 is no Ace Combat 6 and not many friends have a PS3, well, 1 friend has it. I've also heard "the damn controllers break easily." True? Most of you are going to say that the 360 is better, but if you are going to answer this, do it from my point of view. I'm not worried at all of a PS3 over heating problem (GT5 is going to have 24 hour endurence races that NEED to be on over night). The 360 over heats over like, 8 hours of use. A friend of mine went through 4 Xbox 360's before getting a PS3. Shocking, possitivly shocking. My dad is also pro PS3, because he like Blu-ray and went to the Sony Store with me and was blown away witht he PS3 when he played the Forula 1 game. What do you d00ds think?
Clearly, Ace Combat 6 looks as though its the most highly-anticipated game in your opinion for the seventh-generation. But that's just one game, and do you really want to spend $670 just so you can play that one game? I say you wait a few more months to see if you want to get a Xbox 360 at all, for two very good reasons. First, the Xbox 360 may get a price drop around the time of Ace Combat 6, seeing as the Xbox 360 has been out for more than a year and a half. Second, there may be a chance that Ace Combat 6 will be released on the PlayStation 3 at a later date. The PlayStation 3 just needs some time to get those console-moving games out, like Final Fantasy XIII. Hopefully Namco Bandai will come around and realize it's been a fool.
Also, whoever told you "the damn controllers break easily" is a [nvm]. There have been absolutely no reports of defective Sixaxis controllers. You can search anywhere you want, but no reputable source will tell you that. The only real complaint about the Sixaxis in terms of quality is that it feels too light, however, IMO, this gives it a more natural feel.
And your dad is damn straight to support the PlayStation 3. Blu-ray disc is the future. Let's all face it, HD DVD is dead. Toshiba has slashed the prices so low on their HD DVD players there's no way they can make any profit. And consumers can bash SCEI all they want, but they made an incredibly smart move implementing Blu-ray Disc reading capabilities into the PlayStation 3. By doing so, they've installed a huge base of Blu-ray Disc users. Since the movies cost virtually the same to the consumer, all that's left is the selection of movies, and the Blu-ray Disc Association has all the major Hollywood studios, with the exception of Universal. But once Universal realizes that HD DVD is dead, the war will be over. In regard to games, developers will also be stuck two years from now with the Xbox 360, they can add more discs (I believe a three disc game has already been confirmed), but that's unheard of in the 21st century. Developers will go towards BD because it simply offers so much more storage.

Think of it this way, if you buy one, you may not get a chance to get the other. (ever)
Hmmm, but I don't think a "Wii" is that great. Granted it's "PWNS WIT DAT CONTROLER!!!1111" but I'm sure it would break down quickly too. And I don't see too many action games for it. Half the games are rated "E".
How do you mean? A bunch of people I know bought all three seventh-generation systems.
The thing with the Wii is that it's for little kids and old people. If you want games with involving plotlines and intense gameplay, you've got to get a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

Wellllllllll.......kill two birds with one stone, get a 360 with AC6 and vegas, unless the PS3 has some awesome game I don't know about?
Um, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Basically the most highly-anticipated game of the seventh-generation.

well, for the overheating issue, just don't put it in a seculded space, maybe in front of your tv where it has room to breath, not in a shelf, i've gone over 8 hours without it overheating, so thats one thing
the PS3 is more reliable and has some games that i want (and i'm pro 360) while the 360 has more games but reliability is sometimes annoying and paying for live has some downsides, but is worth it in the long run
if you want a lot of games and try the online service, the 360 has a free 1 month trial, and even though the PS3 is free online, i heard there is a lot of lag (and myscrnnm don't come cussing me out, i'm just saying i heard that from ps3 owners and fanboys, not 360 or wii fanboys, ok)
really to summerize it
if you have a budget and want 4-5 games this year, 360 will do
if you have a lot of money and are scared about the 360 breaking and can wait for the AAA titles to come holiday season next year, and you don't want to pay for online and other stuff, than ps3
Sure, the Xbox 360 has more games, but what good does it do if they're mostly shit? The only really good games on the Xbox 360 are Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 and Halo 3, and that's just by Xbox standards. lmao, who the fuck are you kidding? Live worth it in the long run? This is one of those things that gets more expensive as time goes on. This is where Microsoft is getting your money. They have you buy the system at a "mere" $399, and then have you paying $50 a year for their online service. PlayStation Network is nearly as good and free (still lacking in a few features, and admittedly, could use polishing, but is great for SCEI's first attempt at a unified online network).
Dude, whoever told you there is lag is either a fucking idiot, or a fucking idiot who doesn't realize that it's probably their network or Internet connection. I play Rainbow Six Vegas and PlayStation Home like every other day and there is never any lag. There was only this one time that there was lag, and given that it only happened once, it was probably cuz the guy playing on the other end had a shitass Internet connection.
Dude, Timebandit, how can you trust this guy to give you advice? He fucking spelled "then" wrong!

yeah, and the updates are twice a year, there is also a msn thing on there, but i can't use it cause i have a "child account", but not clan page or group chat, hopefully will come in the fall update
but either system you pick, you'll have games this holiday season
lmao, Twice a year, that's weak sauce. The PlayStation 3 gets firmware updates like an average of once every two months. This shows that SCEI is dedicated to improving the usage quality of its customers. Although I definitely won't deny that the Windows Live Messenger integration with Xbox Live is a great feature, and one that I can only wish the PlayStation 3 had.

I reccommend the PS3, solely because of the fact that microsoft has stated that every Xbox 360 is defective, and a record number of them have been returned because of faillures, with reports of some gamers who have gone through more than ten Xbox 360s
Yeah. Basically the real reason why Microsoft has sold as many Xbox 360s as it has is because half the people have to buy like four Xbox 360 units.
QUOTE(Timebandit @ Jul 23 2007, 07:10 AM)

Trust me, it's because the PlayStation 3 is more reliable. In a survey from retailers nationwide, there was a 33% failure rate among Xbox 360s. Less than 1% for PlayStation 3s, and defective Wiis were almost nonexistant. I too have searched eBay, a few weeks ago, and there was only a single PlayStation 3 being sold as "non-working", and the seller wasn't even sure if the PlayStation 3 was broken. This is because with Sony, you get pretty much the best electronics engineers on the planet (with only a few possible exceptions, like IBM, Philips, Pioneer, et cetera). They engineered the PlayStation 3 around the Cell processor and the Blu-ray Disc drive. They knew to expect that with such powerful components, safety would be the number one concern. Ever seen the innards of a PlayStation 3? Basically, one-third of the system (the small rectangular portion) houses a heatsink, blower, and heatpipes. This ensures that the PlayStation 3 is kept cool no matter how long its been running, but doesn't sound like a fucking jet engine at the same time (since larger fans can spin at lower speeds).
