Oi Oi! I was bored and was wondering who here likes Age of Empires? I've got one and two, soon mythology, and three's trial.

III is pretty dang neat looking, but slows my PC down.

great series, but most people seem to agree with me and believe two is the high point of the series.

yeah, 3 is good, but 2 was just fun

I know, online it kicks ass.

I like all the triggers you can get on the editor. But 1 is still a classic.

i played 1 once with everyone starting at the dark age on easy, 10 minutes in, they made it to the last level and started attacking me, and i was jsut starting, which made me not play it

i have 3 and i still havnt gotten around to playing online...
i should try sometime...

i just don't like playing those kind of games all that much, unless its on a console, then i might like it

i would love if someone put world of warcraft on the wii

That's hacked, that isn't close to possible - I remember in standard mode, the best you can get is 8-9 minutes for just the fuedal age. Problem is that now, it seems everyone has a hack, and those who don't have it don't take long to suspect it and then get the hack themselves. That's what put me off playing the game. As for AOE3, it is no fun.

I don't like AoE as much Age of Mythology. I don't own AoE, but I've played it.

age of mythology came from age of empires, and age of empires is better anyway

Ok... so 10 mins. was a bit of an exaggeration? Play on easiest on an islands map when starting (that way, you have about 15 mins. before they can build a transport and bring a little army). That is plenty of time to train a few soldiers to protect yourself

maybe 20, but the game ended in less than 30 minutes

I'm pretty sure ive been able to play 30 min games... of course i won them but...
did you check your game speed setting? and difficulty? and handicap? These could all influcence that but otherwise i dont understand cause Im almost always an age ahead of the computer...

Go to the top of any thread, click "Options" and select the option you want. I think it's called something like Linear+

Anyway, when fighting my brother, it takes 1 or two hours for one game, same if we are on the same team, usually cuz we both make massive armies to attack eachother, then they usually all get killed off mid-way to the city, then the remaining people are often defeated by city defence like towers.

But if I'm on my own island, I build a huge navy so that no one can land any stupid boat with people.

Age of Empires III is withouth a doubt the best one of the three. People like to talk about how III is supposedly shit. But of the Age of Empires games, it has the best presentation and the most refined feel to it.

It switches back to Linear whenever you vote on a poll. Just an annoying glitch.

As Myncknm said, if you vote in a poll (or maybe it was "view results" in a poll), it switches back to Standard mode. It's a glitch of some sort.

must be view results cause i havnt voted recently... and it happened since i got this computer

I felt that 2 was more revolutionary at the time of release than III, but just in terms of gameplay, III is better.

but now i can't find 3 anywhere, so 2 is all i play whenever i actually play it
