the thing about celebs is that they get get out of jail free cards every time they get in trouble with the law. In the constitution its states the right to a fair trial. For celebs its just to get attention and pay a few fines. If you arnt a celebrity it seems the letter "u" cant get a fair trial. Celebs can get aressted and bailed out of jail without even spending time in a cell. Cops should be more strict on celebs becuase were people and should get equal rights as celebs.

I agree, but there is a problem with some things. While it makes no real difference if the Joe from the 7-11 around the corner gets arrested or not, it would make if some celebrities got arrested.

For example, if Steve Jobs got arrested, what would happen to Apple?
Bill Gates?

Now what about an actor or singer? An upcoming movie may not be able to come out (or would be delayed severely).

While I don't support giving celebrities special treatment, you do have to consider that they do play a bigger part in society and there might a worse impact if they were arrested, than if they weren't.

So it is okay for a movie star to be DUI and endanger the lives of many people because they're being paid a few million bucks to act?
djbob
No it's not. While actors have a bigger impact on society, if they can't abide by the law their impact is probably negative.

Who cares what would happen to Apple? The government legally shouldn't worry itself with the plight of companies, should it? Especially when the CEOs have actually committed crimes.

Forget theoretical equality under the law and all that. If actors are jailed, a movie might come out late! The horror! Now that's clearly a reason to let them bypass rules set by the courts.

That shouldn't exempt them from receiving fair punishment. Remember, justice is blind (or at least is supposed to be).

Also, I think that the OP was talking about useless celebrities such as Paris Hilton.

i had a really long arguement going... but when i got distracted (making sure that it was Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous lyrics i wanted to cite) and my computer wigged out and i lost my response.

What i have the heart to retype is that crime is crime and the people who contribute the most to our society shouldnt be a bunch of crims, and shoudnt be let free because they contribute, they should be arrested because they are the examples to the rest of society.

If that works, I could also say:

A man i a drug dealer. He's killing and messing up so many people's lives. But if he's arrested, what about his drug buissness? And what about his falmily? (He is the only money maker)
purrflicta
im not sure what you mean by "i man i a drug dealer" but you make a good point
Timebandit
He meant to type 'is' instead of 'i'.
purrflicta
oh ok i get it now
LucresSerebii
I meant a man IS a drug dealer.
